Frequently asked questionsWhat does 'wedding day photography' include?
On your wedding day we show up two hours before the ceremony and stay through the end of the reception.
Do you work with an assistant?
No. We don't need assistants to carry our equipment for us, and we feel very strongly that the photographer you book should be the one taking all of the pictures of your wedding day.
Do I get one photographer or two?
You get one photographer. The photographer you meet with will be the person who shoots your wedding. You will see only that photographer's work in your meeting, so you will have an accurate view of that photographer's style when making your decision.
Do you shoot with film or digital?
We are an all digital studio.
How many megapixels are your cameras?
Our cameras go up to 12 megapixels. However, focusing on 'megapixels' is highly misleading. It's pushed by consumer-level camera retailers as a simple way to try to say Camera X is better than Camera Y and therefore you should pay more money for it. 'More megapixels' does not mean a better image. A better lens, a better capture device, and an experienced photographer mean better photographs. More megapixels just means you can blow them up larger.
What do you wear to weddings?
We wear dark (gray or black) suits.
What do we put down for a deposit?
You put down a quarter of the package price you want to buy. A second quarter is due six months before the wedding. The third quarter is due the three months before the wedding. The final payment is due two weeks before the wedding.
Do you shoot commitment ceremonies and same-sex weddings?
We are more than happy to shoot commitment ceremonies and same-sex weddings. If you are a same-sex couple, let us know and we can change your account so it reads "groom/groom" or "bride/bride" rather than "bride/groom."
What forms of payment do you take?
We accept checks or money orders made out to Hull Grenier Studios or credit cards (currently through PayPal, but we're working on regular credit card transactions). We prefer not to handle cash because there's no paper trail and no way to rectify loss, theft, or accounting errors.
Do you hold dates? Do you offer engagement sittings? What is your cancellation policy?
If you should cancel your wedding (or change the date to a date we're unavailable, or elope to Jamaica, or whatever) we only give you a refund if we sucessfully rebook the date. Obviously, the sooner you let us know that you will not be needing us, the more likely we are to rebook the date and be able to give you a refund.
The first step is for you to send us a letter signed by the same person who signed the contract. Once we receive that letter, we'll switch your status from 'booked' back to 'prospect' in our system, so you'll still get notices concerning the status of your date. You can ignore any emails concerning other couples inquiring about your date. You want to keep an eye out for the one that says that another couple has booked your date. At that point, you'll need to contact us regarding your refund. We will gladly refund you 75% of your original deposit amount if we rebook the date. Please note, this is our policy, and its written into the contract that you sign when you book with us. We do not make exceptions. Ever. Are you related to Grenier Photography or Grenier Studios?
There is no relation between our studio and either the Springfield or Cape Cod studios of the same name. It just turns out people with the last name 'Grenier' have a proclivity for photography.
